“Amaridian” is the symbolic combination of two words - the Zulu word “Amadlozi” meaning ‘ancestral spirits’ and the word “meridian” the imaginary lines that traverse the globe. The vision of South Africans Mary Slack and Fraser Conlon designing to bridge a new idea of Africa with America through the arts. The concept manifested itself in a contemporary space in which the creations of the sub-Sahara can be exposed and illuminated.

The gallery is a new African world that is both pure and authentic providing a platform from which emerging artists can present their work. It is Amaridian’s goal to allow different ideologies, concepts and expressions to maintain their identity without conforming to a norm or conventional standard.
