This juvenile magpie has been coming down to our garden and is spending a lot of time with us.  He has been abandoned or pushed away by his parents and he is a lost soul at the moment.  The resident magpies are less than happy that “Orville” is around and they attack him to the point where he hides under a leafy tree.  Birds, as I have learned, are very territorial and don’t foster other young birds like animals do which is really sad so Orville will have to try and sort it out for himself.  He sings beautifully when he is sheltering under our tree but it’s just a matter of time before our resident magpie family force him out of the area.

Quite a few young pale-headed rosellas around at the moment

This peewee is limping and we often see birds who struggle to put weight on one of their legs.  More alarming was that when I looked at this photograph on a large scale, I noticed some thread attached to his right leg and just hope that it’s not human intervention.

We’ve been experiencing some nasty afternoon storms in Queensland which was the inspiration for this photograph of a sulphur-crested cockatoo called “Battling the Storm” which is available to purchase in my galleries.

Always enjoy when these birds visit and they have made themselves quite at home. I captured one of this pair drinking out of our swimming pool after he had finished some tucker!
